My first post here. My grandson is autistic and we're going through some real tests both personally and educationally.
One thing that has been on my mind lately is finding a way to both bring attention to some of the organizations that are focused on Autism; both from a research and education angle. I thought about all of these walkathons that are used as fund raisers for various causes and came up with an idea that I'd like to try.
Here in North Carolina, we have a trail that goes from the far western part of the state all the way to the eastern coast. The total distance is approximately 800 miles one way.
What I'd like to do is get individuals and businesses to sponsor me for the total distance.
What I don't know is how to go about organizing such a task. I'd ride my bike the entire distance while trying to bring attention to Autism awareness. If I complete the distance, my sponsors could send the amount to a prearranged organization.
